which board is better

Choose bseb or cbse:

Choosing the right board is very crucial in determining the future of a student. National level boards like CBSE and ICSE have a more standardised syllabus and follow a set educational pattern. On the other end of the spectrum are state boards, where the knowledge imparted is more concentrated and higher emphasis is laid on details. Each of these boards has its own set of merits and demerits. Here we would make a detailed comparison between Bihar State Board and CBSE.

CBSE board has a nationwide presence with 12 million students in 12,504 schools spread across the length and breadth of the country. In comparison, Bihar board schools are run by private organisations and missionaries who obtain fund from the state government.

Let us now analyse in detail how they differ from one another.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION:

In CBSE, the medium of instruction is mostly English. The course material or books provided to students are also written in English.

In Bihar Board, the primary medium of instruction is Hindi, though some private school uses English as a medium of instruction. Text books are available in both Hindi and English medium.

CURRICULUM & SYLLABUS:

In CBSE, the syllabus is focused more on developing the problem solving capability of a child. Practical problem solving skills are emphasised more than bookish knowledge. Once a child is taught something, he is tested on his understanding of the concept. Some of the common subjects include science, social science and Information Technology. English language is taught in great detail and students who wish to sit for competitive examinations or need to migrate to a different country find it easy to blend in.

Bihar State Board follows a more traditional system of education. Number of subjects is limited and emphasis is laid more on, in depth analysis, rather than touching a wide spectrum. English is not the primary language in most of the schools of Bihar board. Students can opt for English as a secondary language. Weak English definitely acts as a hindrance for students wishing to qualify for all India examinations. However, an in depth understanding of each subject gives them a chance to have complete grip over the subject matter.

There are many differences as well as many similarities in BSEB {Welcome to Official Website of Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), Patna} and CBSE . Since you have asked about differences I will answer it clearly.

  • Content in Science and Maths books are nearly same with same theories and examples though the publications are different. i.e. CBSE recommends to follow NCERT but though BSEB follows same pattern but books are from BSTBPC (:: WELCOME TO Bihar State Text book Publishing Carpotationn Limited ) and students also read some books private publications like Student’s Friends & Bharti Bhavan etc.
  • Literature books are entirely different but grammar portion remains almost same.
  • History and Geography syllabus is almost similar with some exceptions{ like 1 or 2 chapters are different}
  • Now coming on exams .

CBSE organizes 2 types of exams in 10th ( i.e. school based and board based ) but in 12th it is only board on the other hand BSEB simply takes board exams .

In CBSE till 10th CCE pattern is also followed but that is not in Bihar Board.

You get marks for what you write in CBSE but in Bihar Board you simply don’t know what is going to be your result { Trust me I have seen in 2013 Matric exam which I have attended }

In CBSE result comes nearly on time but that is not a case in BSEB.

  1. Con’s of Bihar board
    1. Not a very clean & respectable image (duniya mein badnaam h)
    2. It Doesn't actually judge your capacity & capability for any means can be adopted to pass.
    3. Not universally acceptable (let’s not go that far let’s talk only of India for now the results are not even accepted in all states of India)
  2. Jobs aren’t guaranteed without faulty means.

    Pro’s of Cbse board
    1.Universally acceptable results
  1. 2. Results declared by fair means
    3.Prepares students to face the world unlike any other state board which makes you fit only for the state
    4.Trains you for all sorts of entrance exams as 99% National level exams are based on the cbse syllabus.
  2. It is Built according to the brain capacity of children & doesn’t burden students with incompatible syllabi unlike the ICSE / Isc boards.
  3. And finally it teaches students that “Diamonds are made in Pressure”
  1. Con’s of CBSE
    1. Team work aka cheating - NOT ALLOWED 2.Difficult to gain marks
    3.Universal competition
    4.vast syllabus
    5.Not ideal for children who don’t have tutoring support
    6.For some unknown reason it’s hated by the students of the so called ‘English speaking schools’ ie; the ones which follow icse/isc curriculum.
